In short: BasicFakta does not store the texts you submit. We send your text to the Groq API for analysis and display the result. No account, no tracking, no ads.
1. Who is responsible
BasicFakta is a service provided by ALAI Holding AS, org. no. 932 516 136, registered in Norway. Contact: info@basicfakta.no
2. What data is collected
When you use BasicFakta we collect:
- Text you submit for analysis — sent to Groq API for processing. We do not store your text after the analysis is returned to you.
- IP address (anonymized) — used only to enforce the daily usage limit (3 analyses per day). Not stored persistently; automatically cleared at midnight (Oslo time).
- Feedback (optional) — if you submit feedback via the form, it is sent to us by email. We do not use this for tracking.
We do not collect:
- Cookies or local storage (no cookies are set)
- Personal information such as name, email, or account data (no accounts)
- Behavioral data, click tracking, or user profiling
- Third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Hotjar, etc.)
3. Purpose and legal basis
We process data to deliver the fact-checking service. Legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) — providing a functioning service and protecting against abuse through usage limits.
4. How your text is processed
Text you submit is transferred via encrypted HTTPS to Groq API (Groq Inc., USA), which analyzes the content using a large language model (Llama 3). After the result is returned to you, the text is not retained by Groq or by us.
Groq handles data processing in accordance with their own terms. We recommend not submitting text containing sensitive personal data.
5. Third-party providers
- Groq API (Groq Inc., USA) — AI text analysis. Groq privacy policy: groq.com/privacy-policy
- Vercel Inc. (USA) — hosting and server infrastructure. Vercel may log request metadata (IP, timestamp) as part of normal operations. Vercel GDPR info: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
Data transfers to the USA occur under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) pursuant to GDPR Chapter V.
6. Retention periods
- Analysis text: No persistent storage — used only to generate the response.
- IP address (usage limit): Automatically cleared at midnight Oslo time.
- Feedback messages: Retained for up to 12 months for internal follow-up.
- Operations logs (Vercel): Typically 30–90 days, per Vercel's policy.
7. Your rights (GDPR)
As a user in the EU/EEA you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data
- Restriction — restrict processing in certain circumstances
- Data portability — receive data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
To exercise these rights, email info@basicfakta.no. We will respond within 30 days.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) if you believe we are processing personal data in violation of GDPR.
8. Security
All data transfers are encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). We implement security measures including Content Security Policy (CSP), clickjacking protection, and usage limits to protect the service.
9. Children
BasicFakta is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy for material changes to the service. The date at the top of the page is updated with any changes. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
